Send your knives. Get them back sharp.
The kit arrives at your door. You sleeve your knives, drop the box in the mail, and the same knives come back sharp, in 1 to 3 days after service in our shop. Postage is included both ways. You never have to leave the house.
How it works
- We ship the kit. A prepaid USPS box with custom blade sleeves. No special trip, no waiting in line. You don't need to make the package.
- You pack and mail it. Sleeve each knife, seal the box, drop it in any mailbox. The return label is already inside.
- We sharpen the day they arrive. Each knife is restored to its original edge geometry by hand at our bench in Edina.
- You get them back. Insured, tracked, and back in your kitchen within 1 to 3 business days of arrival.
Pricing
Mail-in sharpening is priced by the number of knives you send. Postage is included both ways, and every knife in the box is sharpened whatever the brand or steel.
| Knives | Price |
|---|---|
| 4 knives | $59 |
| 5 knives | $67 |
| 6 knives | $75 |
| 7 knives | $83 |
| 8 knives | $91 |
| 9 knives | $99 |
| 10 knives | $107 |
That works out to $14.75 per knife for a 4-knife order, dropping to $10.70 per knife at ten.
What we sharpen
Kitchen knives of every brand and steel: Wüsthof, Shun, Global, Miyabi, Henckels, Zwilling, Cutco, Victorinox, Misen, Kikuichi, Mcusta, and the rest. Serrated bread knives. Kitchen and fabric scissors. Single-bevel Japanese knives finished on hand stones.
If you own a brand we know well, we have a page that explains how we sharpen it: Wüsthof, Shun, Miyabi, Global, Henckels and Zwilling, Cutco, Victorinox, and Misen.
How we sharpen, by hand
What happens at the bench in Edina:
- Inspection. Each knife is checked for chips, bent tips, and worn heels. We note the steel and the maker so we select an appropriate angle and sharpening plan for each knife.
- Bevel reset. This will remove only enough metal to reach fresh steel behind the dull edge.
- Refinement. We work up through medium and fine grits and deburr with intention.
- Strop. The final passes leaves an edge that bites on general purpose knives and less so on fish knives.
This is what professional knife sharpening looks like when it is done by a person instead of a conveyor or automation. Same bench, same craftsperson, every knife.
The shop behind the kit
Vivront's knife sharpening service runs out of one shop at 4948 France Avenue South in Edina, Minnesota. Same bench, same craftspersons whether your knives are dropped off in person or arrive in the mail from Maine. People still mail us knives from five miles away because they would rather not leave the house.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the whole process take?
US addresses experience 1 to 3 day shipping in each direction, plus same-day sharpening once your knives arrive at the shop. From the day you mail them, expect to be cooking with sharp knives again in under a week.
Is it safe to mail knives?
Yes. Our packaging exceeds USPS shipping standards, with custom inserts that protect both the blade and the handler. Knives ship by mail every day. It is how they reach every store you have ever bought one from.
What brands do you sharpen?
All of them. German, Japanese, French, and American: Wüsthof, Shun, Miyabi, Global, Henckels, Cutco, Victorinox, Misen, Mac, Tojiro, and brands you have never heard of. If a knife has an edge, we sharpen it.
Can I send serrated knives, scissors, or single-bevel Japanese knives?
Yes. Serrated bread knives, kitchen scissors, and single-bevel Japanese knives are all sharpened at the same per-knife bundle price. Pack them in the box like any other knife and count each one toward your knife total.
Can I keep cooking while my knives are out?
Yes. Add a new knife to your order so your kitchen is never empty-handed. Kusakichi knives are $15 off when you add it to a sharpening kit order.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes. It's The Vivront Resharpen Promise. If your knives come back and they are not noticeably sharper than when you sent them, we will resharpen and reship them at no cost.
