Takefu Knife Village

During the 1970's to 1990's, fewer young men in Japan were becoming blacksmiths due to the unappealing work environment.  To address this 10 blacksmiths and craftsmen established Takefu Knife Village to attract new talent, raise the profile of the blacksmith and improve the quality of goods.  The village, located in the Echizen area, offers a modern facility with an emphasis on safety and learning from multiple master blacksmiths. Successfully recruiting new talent and the revitalizing the knife-making industry.
