How to cut a muskmelon

Melons are generous.

They’re sweet, they’re juicy, and when it’s hot out, they’re exactly what you want. But let’s be real: cutting a melon can feel like wrangling a bowling ball.

You might be wondering, “Do I scoop first? Peel first? Slice it all and hope for the best?”

We made a short video to show you how to go from whole melon to bite-sized cubes without the mess (or the melon-roll).

Give it a try. It’s easier and more fun than you think.

  1. Cut off the bottom so you have a flat surface to work from.

  2. Make curved vertical cuts to remove the rind.

  3. Slice off the top.

  4. Cut the melon in half vertically.

  5. Scoop out the seeds using a spoon or your hands.

  6. Cut into long sticks.

  7. Slice the sticks into smaller cubes.

You're done! Enjoy!
