Cherry wood is a softer hard wood and will not damage your knifes edge in the same way a Walnut or Maple face grain board would. The edges are chamfered and the wood sealed with a food grade wax. You will want to treat these with more wax over time to keep them in tip top shape.

This is a natural product with variations in color and grain. Any knots on the board are filled with resin/epoxy to maintain structure of the board, but will not be present on the main cutting area of the board.
