The Hakata knife is an all-purpose knife originating from the northern part of Kyushu island, similar to the Santoku knife. This multi-use blade is suitable for cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, and mincing meat, fish, vegetables, and herbs. Its mostly flat geometry makes it comparable to a Nakiri when handling vegetables, and a Deba for fish; however, it is not as robust. The curved spine supports a pointer style grip when working on fish butchery or finer tasks.
